I'm really encouraged by the positive response I've received via email. I've had an opportunity to discuss this band with some experienced Harrisonburg musicians. There seems to be one piece we are looking for...A lead guitar...If I can find a lead guitar, I think the rest will fall into place quite quickly...There are logistics to work out...Rehearsal and PA...A member with connections to PA would be helpful!! This project is coming along...Any lead guitarists out there?

Tell me about it!  That's why I'm playing with a blues band out of Roanoke & driving from outside Waynesboro.  It seems clubs want the entertainment, they just don't want to pay for it.  i don't think this posting was originally leaning towards a "blues" band, but should that ever materilize, keep me in mind for keyboard work & vocals.  I've got more experience than I care to mention & am always looking for blues work closer to home.  Would love to play the  blues with a horn section.

Question:

Where do you plan to play around here?

Harrisonburg is not exactly a music center.

Most of the venues will not even pay a three-piece combo. Everyone wants to be open mike, jam session, etc.

A Chicago Blues band can be a fish out of water if you don't travel.

Drummer, new to Harrisonburg, looking to start a band with a horn section for covers of artists such as Chicago, Delbert McClinton, and Paul Simon.I'm open to your ideas for covers too! Ideally this band would have whaling lead vocals, keys, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, trumpet, alto sax, tenor / baritone sax and trombone. The more instrumentalists can sing back ups the better. Putting together a 9-10 person band is not easy. If I could network with area high school / university band directors to put this band together, it would make life easier...Hit me up!biggrinwinksmile

By the way it's wailing vocals not vocals to sound like a whale. You can all contact me by email timothy.courtier @ gmail.com - take out the spaces-
